The couple, who travelled from Thessaloniki, chose Syros for exactly this reason: to celebrate both their wedding ceremony and the christening of their little daughter in a truly special setting.
Popup Events was responsible for the concept, planning and decoration of both the church ceremony and the reception venue.
Syros offers unique locations where couples can celebrate the wedding of their dreams. Ermoupoli, the island’s capital, is famous for its elegant neoclassical buildings and beautiful squares. The town features picturesque churches that are perfect for religious wedding ceremonies and christenings. For couples looking for a more romantic and peaceful atmosphere, the island’s seaside villages are also wonderful choices. The sunset over the Aegean Sea creates a breathtaking natural backdrop.
For their ceremony, the couple chose the Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas. The decoration we designed was perfectly harmonised with the grandeur of the church and its architectural character.
The Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of Ermoupoli, is considered one of the most important landmarks of the island and is frequently chosen for weddings and christenings. Overlooking the Aegean Sea, the church’s impressive architecture and details create a truly magnificent atmosphere.
After the ceremony, guests were welcomed with traditional almond sweets and refreshing drinks from a lemon bar that we created in the outdoor area.
Syros is famous for its traditional sweets, including loukoumia, halvadopita and almond pastries. These local delicacies can also be presented in more refined gourmet variations, allowing couples to offer their guests a unique culinary experience inspired by the island’s local products.
The reception venue was simply magical. With stunning sea views and the beautiful Cycladic sunset, it created an unforgettable atmosphere for both the adults and the younger guests.
Each guest found a small surprise waiting for them at their table. Instead of traditional place cards, guests located their seats by scanning a QR code at the entrance of the venue.
We also chose a creative alternative to the classic guest book. Polaroid cameras were placed around the reception area so that guests could take photos, print them instantly and write their wishes directly on the photographs.
These spontaneous moments of joy, laughter and handwritten messages created a beautiful keepsake for the couple — a collection of memories from their special evening.
The wedding tables were designed with elegance and simplicity, ensuring that every detail felt authentic while creating a warm and memorable atmosphere for all guests.
